Abstract:

In rural areas, where socio-demographic factors significantly influence its prevalence, head and neck cancer (HNC) poses a significant public health challenge. In provincial Punjab, India, high paces of HNC, especially oral disease, are driven by tobacco use, liquor utilization, and financial variations. This review clinic based study, led at a tertiary consideration office, investigated information from 200 patients determined to have HNC between January 2023 and December 2023. Key socio-segment factors, including age, orientation, training level, and occupation, were surveyed close by way of life factors, for example, tobacco and liquor use. According to the study, the mean age of 55.3 years (70%) and the majority of patients were male. Higher HNC risk was linked to lower education levels and occupations like farming and labour. Tobacco and liquor use were unequivocally related with expanded disease risk. Older age, male gender, low education, and low socioeconomic status were significant predictors of late-stage HNC, according to multivariate logistic regression. To address and reduce HNC risk in rural Punjab, these findings emphasize the necessity of targeted public health interventions, such as education, occupational safety measures, and lifestyle modification programs.
